Do dog even dream?
Dream researchers for humans know that people dream during REM sleep and non REM sleep. Dogs do have REM (rapid eye movement) sleep so it is very likey that they dream too.
As to what they are dreaming about we can take a look at the sort of things humans dream about. On the whole people tend to dream about things, people, and events in their daily lives in most probably that dogs do the same thing.
So what is your dreaming about when he or she goes to bed at night? If you have a good relationship they are most likely dreaming about you!
While there’s no way to know for sure what dogs are seeing when they dream, it’s safe to assume that their dreams draw from everyday experiences, like humans.
Humans dream about the same things they’re interested in by day, though more visually and less logically, “There’s no reason to think animals are any different. Since dogs are generally extremely attached to their human owners, it’s likely your dog is dreaming of your face, your smell and of pleasing or playing with you.”
Most dog owner have seen their dogs legs twitch like they are running.and have muffled whine and barks while asleep. This is likely them acting out dream scenarios.
If you dog is growling or whining they may be having a nightmare, but it is not a good idea to wake them up suddenly as they be disoriented and either run or bite. Wake them up slowly and not too close to them.
It has been shown that the best way to give ourselves or our children better dreams is to have happy daytime experiences and to get plenty of sleep in a safe and comfortable environment. It’s a good bet this is also best for dogs dreams. To make sure your dog has a comfy bed visit The Logical Dog Store
